Replica Grenade Forces Police Closure of Roads Near Ashton Canal Towpath

Greater Manchester Police responded to reports of a suspicious item located near the Ashton Canal towpath in Droylsden. The discovery led to the immediate closure of Manchester Road and Williamson Lane as a precautionary measure.

Specialist officers attended the scene to assess the object. Following examination, authorities confirmed the item was a replica grenade, identified as a training device. It was subsequently removed from the area without incident.

All roads that had been closed as part of the police operation were reopened to traffic once the item was safely secured and the area deemed clear.
