Russian Missile Barrage Kills Two in Kyiv, Civilian Infrastructure Hit

A large-scale Russian missile and drone assault on Kyiv on Tuesday morning killed at least two people and wounded others. Ukrainian officials confirmed the fatalities occurred in the capital's Holosiivskyi district. The barrage, which involved a combination of cruise missiles and Iranian-designed Shahed drones, triggered extensive air raid alerts across Ukraine.

Reports from Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, detailed damage to residential buildings and other civilian structures. Debris from intercepted projectiles caused fires and structural collapse, notably impacting a multi-storey apartment block where rescue operations are ongoing to locate trapped individuals. Emergency services were deployed to multiple sites across the city to manage fires and provide assistance.

Ukraine's air defence systems reportedly intercepted a significant number of incoming projectiles. However, the sheer volume of the assault meant some munitions bypassed defences, causing destruction and casualties.
