Sharp Objects Discovered in Halloween Sweets Across Austria, Germany, and Hungary
Authorities in Austria, Germany, and Hungary are investigating multiple incidents of sharp objects, including pins and metal shards, discovered in Halloween sweets. These findings have prompted public safety warnings across the affected regions.
In Austria, police in Upper Austria confirmed at least three instances where children received contaminated confectionery during trick-or-treating on 31st October. One notable case involved a nine-year-old girl in Steyr who sustained a tongue injury from a pin embedded in chocolate.
German officials have documented approximately 30 similar incidents. In Darmstadt, a six-year-old boy found a nail in his chocolate bar. Other reports included a pin in a fruit gummy in Worms and a needle discovered in a marshmallow in Wiesbaden.
Hungarian police have also received at least 15 reports of foreign objects in sweets collected during Halloween. These incidents highlight a disturbing pattern of deliberate contamination across several European Union member states, raising immediate concerns regarding child safety during seasonal festivities.
