Simon Richardson Charged with Murder After Michael Mullins Knocked Off Bike in Altrincham
A man has been charged with murder after a head teacher was killed whilst cycling home in Altrincham. Michael Mullins, 56, who had led Stretford Grammar School for 17 years, died following a collision involving a car on Paddock Lane on Monday evening.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that Simon Richardson, 34, of no fixed address, has been charged with murder, manslaughter, dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving without insurance. He was scheduled to appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court.
Two other men and a woman, previously arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, have been released on bail as inquiries continue.
Mr Mullins' family issued a tribute, stating: "Our loving dad, husband, brother-in-law, 'Diddy', uncle and son-in-law passed away after being knocked off his bike. A gap has been left in our hearts and within his role as a head teacher of Stretford Grammar school." They added that he was devoted to his family, and their lives would "never be the same."
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage related to the incident to come forward.
