South Africa Police Establish Special Team After Anti-Migrant Leader Zenzele Ojji Killing
A dedicated team of investigators has been established by South African police to probe the killing of Zenzele Ojji, a provincial leader for the anti-migrant organisation March and March. Mr Ojji was shot and later died from his wounds in hospital.
The March and March movement, which Mr Ojji represented, advocates for the expulsion of all undocumented migrants from South Africa. The organisation frequently blames foreign nationals for the country's high unemployment rates and perceived societal issues.
Attacks on foreign nationals are a persistent concern in South Africa. Documented instances of violence against migrant communities have repeatedly drawn criticism from international human rights organisations, which highlight the often-unaddressed xenophobic undertones in public discourse and policy failures to protect vulnerable populations.
