Southport Killer Axel Rudakubana Charged with Assaults, Weapon Possession at HMP Belmarsh
Axel Rudakubana, 19, currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Liam Jordan in Southport, has been formally charged with multiple offences allegedly committed whilst in custody at HMP Belmarsh.
The charges include three counts of actual bodily harm against prison staff, and one count of possessing a weapon within the prison confines. These alleged incidents occurred between May and October 2023.
Rudakubana was convicted in May 2023 for the murder of Mr Jordan, 16, who died after being stabbed in July 2022. He received a minimum term of 16 years for that offence.
The new charges against Rudakubana indicate ongoing security and behavioural challenges within the high-security prison system.
