Stenhousemuir Man Jailed for Extensive Child Abuse Image Hoard
An 83-year-old man from Stenhousemuir, Falkirk, has been sentenced to 45 months in prison after authorities uncovered more than two million indecent images of children across multiple devices. John McLean's collection was described by the National Crime Agency (NCA) as the “largest single hoard” of its kind ever located in Scotland, equating to thousands of hours of material.
McLean was identified following an investigation into online child abuse material. Subsequent searches of his property revealed the extensive digital archive. The NCA confirmed that McLean pleaded guilty to the charges.
The NCA emphasised its commitment to combating child sexual exploitation, stating that such investigations are a priority. This case highlights the persistent issue of online abuse and the organised efforts required to trace and prosecute offenders, regardless of age or location.
