Sydney Daycare Worker Hamish Tait Accused of 329 Child Abuse Offences Against 136 Children

Hamish Tait, a 48-year-old man from North Sydney, has been publicly identified as the individual facing 329 charges connected to the alleged abuse of 136 children. The alleged offences occurred between 2007 and 2023 across five distinct childcare facilities in Sydney. New South Wales Police confirmed Mr Tait's identity after a suppression order was lifted by the courts.

The charges against Mr Tait include aggravated indecency with a child and taking indecent images of children. Authorities initiated their investigation in February 2023 following a complaint, which led to Mr Tait's arrest in May of the same year. He was subsequently charged with 103 offences. Further police inquiries have resulted in additional charges being laid, bringing the total to 329.

Mr Tait remains in custody, having been denied bail. His case is scheduled for mention at Manly Local Court later this month.
