Teenager Accused of Attempted Murder Texted Apology to Mother After School Stabbing
A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is currently on trial for the attempted murder of a fellow pupil at a high school. His mother told the court that she received a text message from her son stating 'sorry' in the immediate aftermath of the alleged stabbing.
The incident, which occurred at the school in question, saw another pupil sustain injuries. Prosecutors allege the accused used a knife in the attack. The defence maintains that while the teenager admits to the stabbing, he denies the intent to murder.
The mother, giving evidence, described her son as having previously exhibited concerning behaviour, including threats to self-harm and expressing feelings of paranoia. She recounted an instance where he reportedly heard voices. The court heard that the boy had been under the care of mental health services prior to the incident.
The trial continues, with further evidence expected regarding the teenager's state of mind at the time of the alleged assault and the circumstances leading up to the event.
