Tommy Robinson Hired Private Detectives to Target Daily Mail Journalists, Court Hears
Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, engaged private investigators to scrutinise two journalists from the Daily Mail, a London court has been told. The political activist is currently defending himself against allegations of harassment, specifically that he sought to expose the journalists to potential threats of violence.
During proceedings, evidence was presented detailing the scope of the investigations Robinson commissioned. He maintains his actions were not designed to incite harm or intimidation against the individuals involved in reporting on his activities. The defence argued that the intent was solely to understand the sources and methods behind the Daily Mail's reportage.
The legal case continues to examine the nature of Robinson's directives to the private detectives and whether those directives constituted harassment under UK law. The court is analysing whether the pursuit of information about the journalists crossed a line into intending or recklessly allowing for threats of violence against them.
