Trio Jailed for Brutal Filmed Assault on Ex-Boyfriend
A woman who orchestrated and filmed the 'truly brutal assault' of her ex-boyfriend has been jailed alongside her cousin and another man. Summer Marl-Brock, 21, lured Benjamin Edwards, 24, to a pre-arranged meeting where he was ambushed by David Brock, 38, and Aaron Evans, 34.
The Attack
The court heard that Ms Marl-Brock contacted Mr Edwards, feigning distress, and arranged to meet him. Upon his arrival, Mr Edwards was subjected to a sustained attack in his car. Mr Brock and Mr Evans repeatedly punched, kicked, and bit him, causing severe injuries including haemorrhaging to his eyes, facial bruising and swelling, a small jaw fracture, bite marks, and an ear wound. Ms Marl-Brock filmed the entire ordeal, with laughter reportedly heard on the recording, until the incident became 'out of control'.
Mr Edwards eventually managed to escape after crashing his car in an attempt to flee the attackers. He later reported the incident to the police. In a victim impact statement, Mr Edwards detailed ongoing struggles with sleep, nightmares, panic attacks, and social anxiety, along with permanent scarring from the assault.
Sentencing
All three defendants admitted wounding with intent. Judge Simon Mills highlighted the 'chilling' feature of the biting and the fact that Mr Edwards was 'trapped' with no chance to defend himself. He noted Ms Marl-Brock's video recording as a 'truly shocking piece of evidence'.
David Brock, with a history of violent offences, was sentenced to seven years and two months in prison. Aaron Evans received six years and three months. Summer Marl-Brock was handed a 54-month jail term. All three were also issued a 15-year restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim.
