Massie, representing a district spanning from Louisville and Cincinnati suburbs to Appalachia, has repeatedly challenged Trump on core issues. He voted against significant spending legislation, opposed tariffs on Canada, and sought to curtail US military actions, including the ongoing war in Iran. Notably, Massie also collaborated with Democrats to force the release of Jeffrey Epstein files from the Justice Department, a move that gained him national attention.
Trump has publicly disparaged Massie, labelling him a “moron” and a “major sleazebag”, and personally selected Gallrein as his preferred candidate. This dynamic has turned the race into a direct contest between Trump’s authority and Massie’s self-styled libertarian principles.

A significant portion of the money opposing Massie originates from three billionaires: Miriam Adleson, Paul Singer, and John Paulson.
