The former president attributed this policy shift to his “very good relationship” with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, suggesting these drills are provocative rather than essential for regional stability.

This declaration marks a continuation of Trump’s earlier approach during his first term, where he frequently questioned the financial burden and strategic necessity of extensive military cooperation with Seoul.
