Two Teenagers Aid 74-Year-Old Man After Street Collapse, Ensuring Hospital Transport
A 74-year-old man, who wishes to remain anonymous, has publicly commended two teenagers for their intervention after he collapsed on a Glasgow street. The incident occurred on Monday morning near a bus stop on Byres Road.
The man recounted feeling unwell and subsequently losing consciousness. Upon regaining awareness, he found two young men, aged between 16 and 18, assisting him. They made efforts to contact his family and, when unable to do so, promptly arranged for a taxi to take him to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
He was subsequently admitted to the hospital's accident and emergency department, where medical professionals diagnosed him with an irregular heartbeat and low blood pressure. He has since been discharged and is recuperating at home.
The man expressed profound gratitude for the teenagers' actions, stating, "I cannot thank them enough. They did not just walk past; they stopped to help a stranger. Their compassion and quick thinking were remarkable." He hopes to locate the young men to personally convey his appreciation for their crucial assistance during a vulnerable moment.
