Two Teenagers Jailed for Murdering 16-Year-Old Kayden Moy on Irvine Beach

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, received a minimum sentence of 17 years for the murder of Kayden Moy. His accomplice, a 17-year-old, was ordered to serve at least 16 years. Both were convicted at the High Court in Glasgow earlier this month.

The court heard that Kayden Moy was fatally stabbed in the chest during an organised confrontation involving two groups of teenagers on Irvine Beach in May 2025. Despite efforts to save him, Moy succumbed to his injury at Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock.

During the trial, the prosecution detailed how the 16-year-old delivered the fatal blow, while the 17-year-old also brandished a knife, participating in the attack. Lady Stacey, presiding over the sentencing, emphasised the tragic loss of a young life and the profound impact on Kayden's family.

Detective Inspector, William Wylie, acknowledged the difficulty of the investigation given the young age of those involved but reiterated the commitment to holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
