Uganda Imposes 21-Day Quarantine on Travellers Arriving from Democratic Republic of Congo
Uganda has instituted a compulsory 21-day quarantine period for all its citizens returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Additionally, the Ugandan government has ceased permitting most individuals who have recently been in the DRC to transit through Uganda.
This stringent measure reflects ongoing regional anxieties regarding public health and cross-border movement. Authorities state the quarantine is a necessary step to mitigate potential risks. This action follows a pattern of heightened border controls observed across various African nations, frequently in response to outbreaks or perceived threats requiring significant governmental intervention.
