Ugandan National Park Collision Kills Three Revenue Officials, Injures Four
A vehicle carrying seven Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) officials collided with an elephant in Murchison Falls National Park, resulting in three fatalities and four injuries. The incident occurred on Sunday evening in the north-western Ugandan park.
The Uganda Police Force confirmed the collision, stating the vehicle was en route from Arua city to Kampala when it struck the animal. The injured were initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to Kampala for further medical attention.
Ugandan authorities provided no information regarding the elephant's condition following the collision. The Ugandan Wildlife Authority issued a caution to motorists, advising them to drive carefully within Protected Areas due to frequent animal crossings. This incident underscores the growing challenges as expanding human settlements increasingly encroach upon wildlife habitats, leading to more frequent human-wildlife encounters and traffic accidents.
