Ugandan Officials Investigate Potential Ebola Transmission at Entebbe Airport Between Nigerian, Kenyan Travellers
Ugandan health officials are investigating whether a potential Ebola transmission occurred at Entebbe International Airport. This comes after a Nigerian national and a Kenyan national, both confirmed to have contracted the Ebola virus, transited through the same facility on 3 October.
The Ministry of Health in Uganda has initiated a comprehensive contact tracing effort to identify any individuals who may have been exposed during the overlap at the airport. The specific strain of Ebola virus involved and the precise origin of the infections are currently under analysis.
This incident underscores the challenges in containing viral outbreaks within a highly interconnected global travel system. The emphasis remains on swift epidemiological investigation and robust public health measures to prevent broader dissemination.
