UK Health Agency Forecasts Record Heat Deaths, Almost 3,000 in Two Months
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a preliminary assessment suggesting the country is likely to experience a record number of heat-related deaths in the current year. Data indicates that approximately 2,877 excess deaths were attributable to heat during the heatwaves in May and June.
This figure represents a significant increase, almost doubling the total recorded for the entirety of last year. The UKHSA’s findings highlight the growing public health challenge posed by rising temperatures across the United Kingdom.
