Urfan Sharif Seeks Jury Inquest After Sara Sharif's Death, Convicted Father Requests Review
Urfan Sharif, who received a life sentence for the murder of his ten-year-old daughter Sara Sharif, is now requesting a jury inquest into her death. Sharif, alongside his partner Beinash Batool, was convicted in June for the murder of Sara, whose body was discovered at her Woking home in August 2023.
A preliminary hearing in Surrey on 3 July confirmed Sharif's application, which could lead to a more extensive public inquiry into the events surrounding Sara's death. This development means the initial coroner's investigation will be suspended while Sharif's request for a jury inquest is considered.
Sara Sharif was found deceased with numerous injuries, leading to a significant police investigation. Her father, stepmother, and uncle subsequently fled to Pakistan before returning to the UK months later to face charges. The convictions brought an end to a high-profile trial that detailed the prolonged suffering endured by the child.
