Vehicle Collides With London Shop Shutters Famous for Grandmother Incident
Emergency services responded to a vehicle collision with a shop in Walthamstow, East London, early this morning. A car struck the security shutters of a commercial premises on Hoe Street, a location previously highlighted for a peculiar incident.
The shop's shutters became globally recognised last year when footage circulated showing a grandmother inadvertently hoisted several feet into the air. The woman, who was reportedly leaning against the metal barrier as it began to ascend, was eventually brought back to ground safely by passers-by. The incident was widely shared on social media platforms.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed officers attended the scene following reports of a collision. No serious injuries have been reported from this latest incident. Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing, but the property itself once again finds itself in the news, albeit for a different kind of unexpected event.
