Kuwait Acquits US-Kuwaiti Journalist Ahmed Shihab-Eldin After 52-Day Detention Over Social Media Posts
Ahmed Shihab-Eldin, a US-Kuwaiti journalist, has been acquitted of all charges in Kuwait after 52 days in detention. He was arrested on 3 March for re-posting images and videos related to the US-Israeli war with Iran, including footage of a crashed US F-15 jet. His legal team confirmed the verdict, expressing relief at his innocence on charges of spreading false information, harming national security, and misusing his mobile phone. Kuwaiti authorities have not commented, though other Gulf states have detained hundreds for similar social media activity during the conflict.
