Aer Lingus Proposes 500 Job Cuts Across Head Office, Cabin Crew, and Pilot Roles
Aer Lingus has outlined plans to reduce its workforce by 500 employees, citing the necessity of cost-saving measures. The proposed redundancies affect 290 roles within the airline's head office functions, 140 cabin crew positions, and 70 pilot jobs.
This initiative follows a period where the aviation sector, including Aer Lingus, has faced significant financial pressures. The company's management has indicated these cuts are integral to ensuring the airline's long-term operational viability in a challenging economic landscape.
The announcement initiates a consultation process with trade unions representing the affected staff, including Fórsa and IALPA. These discussions will address the details of the proposed redundancies and potential mitigation strategies.
