Amin Abdullah Hailed for Heroism as San Diego Mosque Attack Kills Three
Amin Abdullah, a security guard and father of eight, has been lauded for his heroic actions during the recent attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Police Chief Scott Wahl confirmed on Monday that Abdullah's swift intervention undoubtedly saved lives during the incident.
Abdullah, alongside Mansour Kaziha and Nader Awad, were killed by two teenage attackers. The assailants, aged 17 and 18, subsequently died from self-inflicted wounds in a vehicle near the mosque. The Council on American-Islamic Relations-San Diego (CAIR-SD) identified the victims.
Community members described Abdullah as a man dedicated to the safety and well-being of others, having served as a security guard at the mosque for over a decade. Friends and associates recalled his kindness and willingness to assist anyone, regardless of their circumstances.
The deadly shooting unfolded on Monday after one of the alleged attacker's mothers reported her son missing and potentially suicidal. Hours later, police discovered the three victims with gunshot wounds outside the mosque. Shortly thereafter, the two suspects were found dead.
Police Chief Wahl stated that the shooting is being investigated as a hate crime, citing the presence of "hate rhetoric" connected to the incident.
