Anthropic Files Confidential IPO Paperwork for US Stock Market Listing
Anthropic, the artificial intelligence firm responsible for the Claude chatbot, has announced its intention to become a publicly traded company in the United States. On Monday, the company confirmed it had filed confidential paperwork with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in preparation for an initial public offering (IPO) expected later this year.
This filing indicates that Anthropic shares will soon be available for trading on the stock market. However, the company stated that specifics regarding "the number of shares to be offered and the price have not yet been set."
The announcement from Anthropic comes shortly after Elon Musk's SpaceX also signalled its plans to go public, setting the stage for an examination of investor appetite amidst the rapidly inflating valuations seen in the AI sector. While Anthropic, established just five years ago, recently secured private funding that valued the company at over $965 billion, it has not disclosed a target price for its forthcoming public listing.
