Arizona Toddler Declared Dead After Drowning Found Alive in Hospital Morgue
An 18-month-old child, declared dead after a drowning incident in Arizona, was found to be alive inside a hospital morgue. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office confirmed the unusual event, stating that first responders had pulled the boy from a swimming pool following reports of a drowning.
Deputies were called to a residence where the toddler had been found unresponsive. Emergency medical services worked to revive the child, but he was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene. The boy was then transported to the hospital morgue.
However, a short time later, hospital staff discovered the child was still breathing. He was immediately airlifted to another hospital for further medical attention. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the initial declaration of death and the subsequent discovery.
This incident has prompted questions regarding the protocols followed in determining death and the procedures in place for morgue admissions. The child's survival, despite the initial pronouncement, highlights a critical failure in assessment.
