Nigerian President Demands Explanation for Alleged Fake Agency Operation in Presidential Office
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered a thorough investigation into the alleged establishment and operation of a fake government agency from within the presidential office. The directive mandates a full inquiry into the mechanisms that permitted this purported deception to occur under the presidential purview.
The controversy centres on Adeniyi Adeyemi, who stands accused of forging an appointment letter to assume the role of a presidential aide. It is alleged he then proceeded to create an entirely fictitious entity, named the 'Office of the Special Presidential Envoy for Monitoring and Attainment of West Africa Regional Integration'. This alleged fabricated office reportedly secured funding from various government agencies, all without the knowledge or authorisation of the presidency.
Further accusations against Adeyemi include the alleged misuse of official letterheads and logos associated with the presidency, which he purportedly deployed to solicit funds for his unauthorised operation. He is also accused of conducting official business and engaging with high-ranking government officials while falsely representing himself as a legitimate presidential envoy.
President Tinubu’s office has unequivocally stated that no such department or individual exists within the legitimate structure of the Nigerian presidency. The investigation will seek to establish accountability for how such a significant deception could be perpetrated from within the highest office of the land, and how funds were reportedly disbursed to an entity that had no official standing.
