Armed Parent Shoots Former Student in Oregon Primary School Classroom Attack
An armed parent shot and wounded a 16-year-old former student who had entered a primary school in Oregon with a shotgun and attempted to attack a special educational needs classroom. The incident occurred at Rigler Elementary School in Portland, Oregon.
The suspect, identified as Rian Travis Riddle, previously attended Rigler Elementary. Police reports indicate that Riddle specifically targeted the special educational needs classroom upon entering the school.
A teacher courageously intervened, engaging in a physical altercation with Riddle, which authorities suggest may have prevented further harm. During this struggle, a parent, whose child attends the school, drew a firearm and shot Riddle multiple times.
Riddle was subsequently transported to hospital with injuries. No children or school staff were physically harmed during the incident. Authorities are currently investigating the precise motivations behind Riddle's actions and how he gained access to the school with a weapon. This event underscores persistent concerns regarding firearm access and school security protocols in the United States.
