Barrister Jailed Three Years Over Revenge Plot With Client in Manchester

A barrister has been imprisoned for three years and three months after being convicted of a revenge plot with her client. Samreen Akhtar, 38, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on Monday for attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The court heard that Akhtar, previously a registered barrister, conspired with her client, who had been convicted of sexual offences. Their plan involved sending malicious communications and initiating false complaints to professional bodies against individuals who had provided evidence against the client.
