Ben Nevis Dog Rescue: Labrador Suspected of Cannabis Ingestion
A dog rescued from Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain, is suspected to have consumed discarded cannabis, leading to its collapse during a hike.
Tokyo, a black Labrador, was midway up the mountain with its owner when it became unwell. The dog exhibited symptoms consistent with cannabis ingestion, an increasingly common occurrence according to local animal welfare organisations.
Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team was alerted to the incident and transported the distressed animal down the mountain. Following examination by a veterinary surgeon, the suspicion of cannabis consumption was confirmed as a probable cause for the dog's sudden incapacitation.
This incident highlights a growing issue for pet owners and rescue services in popular hiking areas, where discarded substances pose a risk to animals. Authorities have urged visitors to dispose of all waste responsibly to prevent such occurrences.
