Binance Alleges Fake Job Interviews Led to £5 Billion Crypto Hack
Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has detailed how a sophisticated phishing operation, involving fabricated job interviews, allowed hackers to steal £5 billion worth of cryptocurrency. The company stated that an engineer was approached via a legitimate job-hunting platform and subsequently participated in bogus interviews with individuals posing as company representatives.
This elaborate deception reportedly granted the perpetrators access to critical internal systems. Binance has since offered a £80,000 bounty for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individuals responsible for the substantial breach. The incident highlights the persistent vulnerability of even major financial technology firms to advanced social engineering tactics.
