City of London Corporation Head Ian Thomas Ranks First on UK Black Powerlist
Ian Thomas, who serves as the City of London Corporation's chief, has secured the top position on the 2024 Black Powerlist. This esteemed annual compilation, now in its 21st year, identifies the UK's most influential people of African, African Caribbean, and African American heritage.
The Powerlist was established in 2007 by Michael Ebong to recognise and celebrate the achievements of Black individuals, ensuring their contributions are acknowledged across British society. Mr Thomas's ascent to the number one spot underscores the significant influence he wields within the UK's financial centre, reflecting his leadership at the Corporation.
Previous top honourees have included figures such as Stormzy, Jacky Wright, and Dame Sharon White, demonstrating the list's broad scope in acknowledging impact across music, technology, and retail. The continued publication of the Powerlist serves to highlight the diverse and substantial impact Black professionals have on the UK's economic, social, and cultural landscape.
