Clacton By-Election: Twelve Candidates Confirmed, Including Heritage and UKIP Representatives
The Clacton by-election, scheduled for 4 July, will see twelve candidates vying for the parliamentary seat. This follows Nigel Farage's announcement of his candidacy for Reform UK, marking his eighth attempt to enter the House of Commons.
Farage, who previously represented Clacton as an MEP, is set to challenge incumbent Conservative candidate Giles Watling. The diverse field of contenders includes representations from established and lesser-known political factions.
Key Candidates and Their Platforms
Among the candidates are Andrew Morgan for the Green Party, Natasha Osben for the Labour Party, and Matthew Patrick for the Liberal Democrats. The Heritage Party is fielding Natasha Plummer, while Kevin Alan Bonham represents the UK Independence Party (UKIP).
Independent candidates include Dr. Michael Maximus Verges, who previously campaigned as 'The Beast of Clacton', and Marie Joelle Hyacinth for the Workers Party of Britain. Other independent hopefuls are Garry Edward Chance, known for his 'Garry the Carer' platform, and Caroline Ann Newman, who has previously campaigned as 'The Woman Who Would Be King'. Ben Eglinton, another independent, and a candidate listed as 'Zero' complete the ballot.
This election will coincide with the general election, ensuring that the Clacton constituency, like many others across the UK, faces a robust democratic challenge with a broad spectrum of political viewpoints on offer.
