Dubai and Egypt Package Holidays Cheaper This Summer Than European Destinations
Package holidays to destinations such as Dubai and Egypt are offering better value for British travellers this summer, with prices for many non-European trips falling compared to last year. This trend contrasts sharply with the creeping cost of holidays to traditional European hotspots.
Data from travel analytics firm Advent shows a notable decrease in the average price of a one-week package holiday to Dubai for a family of four, now standing at £4,288. This represents a reduction of approximately 5% from last year's figures. Similarly, trips to Egypt are also demonstrating greater affordability, with an average price of £2,850, marking a roughly 8% decrease.
Conversely, popular European destinations have seen prices rise. A family holiday to the Balearic Islands, for instance, now averages £3,800, an increase of 7%. The Algarve in Portugal has experienced a similar uplift, with average costs reaching £3,550, up 6%.
Industry analysts suggest that geopolitical events and perceptions of regional instability have contributed to a slowdown in bookings for certain non-European destinations, leading tour operators to adjust pricing to stimulate demand. This dynamic offers a strategic advantage for those prepared to consider destinations outside the immediate European sphere, securing more holiday for their pound.
