Former Soldier Daniel Khalife Received Escape Assistance From Two Accomplices, London Court Hears
Adeel Khan and Imran Chowdhury are accused of assisting former soldier Daniel Khalife in his escape from HMP Wandsworth in September 2023. A London court heard that Mr Khalife, who was awaiting trial on terror and Official Secrets Act charges, was allegedly aided by the two men in his high-profile flight.
Prosecutors detailed that Mr Khan, 33, of Tower Hamlets, and Mr Chowdhury, 31, of Newham, both stand accused of a single count of assisting an offender. The particulars of the charge state they ‘assisted Daniel Khalife with intent to impede his apprehension or prosecution’ by helping him ‘abscond from HMP Wandsworth’.
Mr Khalife had been held at the Category B prison after being charged with offences related to obtaining information useful to an enemy, eliciting information about members of the armed forces, and placing a hoax bomb. He was apprehended four days after his escape near Grand Union Canal in Northolt, West London.
The trial continues, with further details expected to emerge regarding the alleged planning and execution of the prison escape.
