
Former Thai MP Chalong Riewrang Confesses to Killing Government Official on YouTube
Chalong Riewrang, formerly a Member of Parliament for Nakhon Ratchasima province, has publicly admitted to shooting a government official during a YouTube livestream. Mr Riewrang, a former member of the Pheu Thai party, informed his audience that he had shot the official due to a dispute concerning a land survey.
Police in Nakhon Ratchasima confirmed they are investigating the alleged killing. Reports indicate the deceased official was from the provincial land department. Mr Riewrang's confession described him shooting the official with a 9mm pistol following a heated argument, during which he claimed the official became physically aggressive.
Thai media has widely covered the incident, highlighting the unusual nature of a public figure making such a confession. Mr Riewrang explicitly stated his intention to surrender to authorities after his broadcast.
