Four Hospitalised After Stabbing Incident at Tenby Railway Station
Four people have been admitted to hospital with stab wounds after a significant disturbance erupted at Tenby railway station on Tuesday night.
Arrests and Investigation
A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of assault with intent and remain in police custody. Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that all injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. British Transport Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, which saw officers called to the scene at approximately 21:50 BST.
Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Davies stated, "We understand an incident of this nature will cause concern in the community, and while we believe it to be an isolated incident, passengers will notice an increased presence of officers in the area who are there to provide reassurance."
Community Reaction
Tenby's Town Council expressed gratitude to the emergency services and acknowledged recent incidents involving groups of youths in the town, including disorder, criminal damage, and a very serious assault. In a statement, the council said, "While Tenby is a welcoming, close-knit and safe community, the events of recent days have understandably caused concern among residents, businesses and visitors alike. We are clear that this behaviour is not Tenby and does not reflect the values of our town or the overwhelming majority of our young people."
Dyfed-Powys maintains one of the lowest rates of knife crime across England and Wales. Transport for Wales confirmed that train services, which had seen earlier cancellations, were returning to normal following the police operation.
