Indonesian Teacher Mochamad Subchi Azal Tsani Returns to Jail After Early Parole Reversal
Mochamad Subchi Azal Tsani, a teacher previously convicted for the sexual abuse of a pupil, has been returned to state custody in Indonesia following the reversal of his early parole. Tsani’s early release in 2025, which saw him serve under half of his judicial sentence, has drawn scrutiny.
Authorities confirmed Tsani is now back in Malang Penitentiary after his parole status was revoked. The decision came after revelations surrounding his release prompted public questioning and official review.
The initial conviction stemmed from serious allegations of sexual abuse involving a pupil under his care. His premature release had ignited a debate concerning the transparency and application of Indonesia’s parole system for serious offenders.
The justice ministry’s correctional service, Ditjen Pas, stated that the revocation of his parole aligns with legal procedures for inmates who fail to meet parole conditions or whose release is deemed to be against the public interest. This move ensures Tsani will now serve the remainder of his original sentence.
