Iranian Man Who Breached Faslane Nuclear Base Perimeter Faces No Further Action
A 34-year-old Iranian national, apprehended in March after breaching the perimeter of His Majesty's Naval Base Clyde at Faslane, the operational hub for the UK's Trident nuclear submarine fleet, will face no further action. The individual was arrested on 19 March within the high-security site in Argyll and Bute.
Police Scotland confirmed that a report concerning the incident was passed to the Procurator Fiscal for consideration. However, a spokesperson for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service subsequently stated: “After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, the Procurator Fiscal decided that there should be no proceedings taken at this time.”
The specific circumstances of how the man gained access to the sensitive military installation, which houses substantial Western nuclear deterrent capabilities, remain officially undisclosed. His detention followed a security alert at the base, an asset deemed critical to Western defence architecture.
