Jay Stewart, 15-Year-Old Convicted of Kayden Moy Murder on Irvine Beach
Jay Stewart, 18, and a 15-year-old, whose identity is protected by law, were convicted at the High Court in Glasgow for the fatal stabbing of Kayden Moy. The incident occurred on Irvine Beach on 17 May 2025. Cole Turley, 18, had already pleaded guilty to the murder.
The prosecution detailed how Stewart, the 15-year-old, and Turley, all members of the East Kilbride-based Murray Boys gang, pursued Moy, who was affiliated with the rival Himshie group. The chase culminated in Moy falling to the ground, where he was then repeatedly stabbed.
Evidence presented during the trial indicated pre-existing animosity towards Moy from Stewart and the 15-year-old, with Stewart having issued threats on social media. The trio travelled to Irvine Beach following an earlier altercation between the rival groups. They reportedly threw rocks at Moy and his companions, an action the prosecution characterised as an attempt to provoke a confrontation. Stewart was also observed carrying a baton.
Following the attack, which caused significant disorder on the beach, the three individuals took a taxi back to East Kilbride. They subsequently entered the home of Fraser Wallace, 19, an acquaintance of Turley. Wallace testified that the 15-year-old informed him that he had passed a lockback knife, identified as the murder weapon, to Turley before the stabbing.
