Luxury Vessel Spotted Near Kim Jong Un's Wonsan Retreat, Satellite Images Reveal
Recent satellite photographs have identified a large luxury boat situated close to Kim Jong Un's sprawling Wonsan summer retreat. The vessel, estimated to be around 80 metres in length, features a notable 50-metre swimming pool and several waterslides, indicators of considerable extravagance.
The Wonsan compound itself is a testament to the regime's lavish spending, encompassing a private train station, a protected harbour, and multiple mansions. This lifestyle of extreme wealth for the Kim family and their inner circle is sustained while North Korea's population endures severe economic hardship and food insecurity, exacerbated by persistent international sanctions.
Observers suggest the presence of such a vessel underscores the ongoing disconnect between the leadership's personal indulgence and the country's broader developmental challenges. These images offer a rare, albeit indirect, insight into the recreational pursuits of North Korea's supreme leader, activities largely inaccessible to the vast majority of its citizens.
