Michael Davies Convicted of Wife Tracey Davies' Murder in Cefn Cribwr

A jury at Cardiff Crown Court has convicted Michael Davies, 58, of the murder of his wife, Tracey Davies. Mr Davies had previously admitted to manslaughter but denied the more serious charge.

The court heard that Mrs Davies, 50, was strangled in her bed at their home in Cefn Cribwr, Bridgend, on 29 March. The prosecution detailed how Mr Davies subjected his wife to controlling behaviour, driven by jealousy over her social engagements and his suspicions of her infidelity.

During the trial, the jury was presented with evidence indicating Mr Davies's anger intensified after Mrs Davies returned from a night out with friends. He had sent her messages threatening to tell her employer about her alleged drug use, a claim Mrs Davies denied.

The defence argued that Mr Davies's actions were a result of a loss of control, citing his depression and the emotional distress caused by his wife's perceived betrayal. However, the prosecution maintained that Mr Davies acted with intent to kill or cause grievous bodily harm, characterising the act as a culmination of his possessive tendencies.

Michael Davies is scheduled for sentencing on 29 September, pending further psychological reports.
