Micheal Ward, Top Boy Actor, Alleges Consent During Rape Trial Testimony
Micheal Ward, the actor recognised for his part in the television series 'Top Boy', has presented his defence in a rape trial, stating to the jury that he believed the sexual encounter was consensual. Ward, who denies the charges, told Woolwich Crown Court that he was under the impression both individuals were enjoying themselves at the time.
Ward recounted that he and the complainant had spent an evening together, consuming alcohol and cannabis. He described a sequence of events, including dancing and kissing, which he interpreted as mutual affection and consent. His testimony detailed how the two moved to his bedroom, where further consensual intimacy occurred.
The actor informed the court that the complainant initiated physical contact, pulling him onto the bed and suggesting they continue. Ward maintained that throughout the encounter, he perceived no indication of reluctance or distress from the complainant. He asserted that he would have immediately ceased any activity if he had believed there was a lack of consent.
The prosecution alleges that the complainant was too intoxicated to consent, a claim Ward disputes. The trial continues, with further evidence expected from both the defence and prosecution.
