Middlesbrough Fire Kills Aunt and Niece, Two Men Arrested for Murder

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal house fire in Middlesbrough. The blaze, which occurred on Tuesday morning on Barnaby Avenue, claimed the lives of a woman, 37, and her seven-year-old niece.

Emergency services were called to the property at approximately 00:40 GMT. Cleveland Police confirmed the deaths and stated that a criminal investigation is now underway. The victims have been identified as the aunt and her niece, with tributes describing the aunt as a 'beautiful soul'.

The two male suspects, aged 31 and 21, remain in police custody for questioning. Authorities have appealed for anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist with their enquiries.
