Nottingham Police Arrest Two Men Over Hospital Mortuary Practices, Operation Perth Investigates
Nottinghamshire Police have arrested two men in connection with operating practices within the city’s mortuary service, which falls under the Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust. The arrests, of individuals aged 55 and 59, were made on Monday on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.
The police stated these actions are a component of Operation Perth, an investigation initiated in 2023. This inquiry began in response to significant maternity failings within the Trust, which have been linked to the deaths or injuries of hundreds of infants. Operation Perth has uncovered breaches of regulations under the Human Tissue Act pertaining to the management and operational standards of the mortuary services at both the Queen’s Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital.
Deputy Chief Constable Rob Griffin acknowledged the distress this development would cause for families already impacted by Operation Perth. He urged affected families to contact the force directly for further information or support.
