
Nottinghamshire Man Dies After Car Strikes Pedestrian Group; Murder Investigation Initiated
A murder investigation has commenced following the death of a man who was among a group of pedestrians struck by a car in Nottinghamshire.
Five individuals were hit by a Vauxhall Astra in Market Place, Arnold, shortly after 01:10 BST on Saturday. Tyler Fairman, 26, sustained life-threatening injuries and died on Tuesday, according to Nottinghamshire Police. Four other men suffered less severe injuries.
Duane Anthony, 40, was arrested and initially charged with five counts of attempted murder on Monday. He has since been additionally charged with aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified, and driving without valid insurance. Anthony is scheduled to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 8 June.
Local non-league football club Woodthorpe Park Rangers had previously stated that two of its players and a manager were among those struck by the vehicle.
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, leading the inquiry, confirmed: "As we release the sad news of Tyler's death, our first thoughts go to his family and loved ones at this difficult time." She added that the investigation is now being treated as a murder inquiry, with ongoing support for the victims and their families.
Authorities have also noted the circulation of videos of the incident on social media and have requested their immediate removal to allow Tyler's family to grieve privately.
