PC Richard Williams Faces Misconduct Hearing Over Nine Punches and Headlock During Arrest

Police Constable Richard Williams is currently at the centre of a misconduct hearing in London, addressing eight serious allegations of breaching professional behaviour standards. The charges arise from an arrest incident that occurred in September 2020.

During the arrest, PC Williams is accused of placing the suspect in a headlock and subsequently punching the individual nine times. Furthermore, he is alleged to have failed to record the use of force in his pocket notebook, as well as neglecting to ensure the suspect received medical attention after the physical altercation.

The Metropolitan Police Directorate of Professional Standards initiated the investigation into PC Williams's conduct. The hearing is examining whether these actions constitute gross misconduct, potentially leading to his dismissal from the force.
