Pyongyang Dismisses US Allegations of Binance Crypto Heist Involvement, Citing Lack of Evidence
North Korea has strenuously denied accusations from United States government agencies and independent cyber security analysts linking it to the unprecedented $6.3 billion cryptocurrency theft from the Binance exchange. Pyongyang's foreign ministry labelled the claims as entirely unsubstantiated, suggesting they are a component of a broader strategy to discredit the nation.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Treasury Department have publicly attributed the massive digital asset breach to North Korean state-sponsored hacking groups. These US bodies assert that the theft, which represents one of the largest cryptocurrency heists in history, was conducted by entities operating under the direct control of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Despite the detailed analysis from Western cyber security firms, which have presented technical evidence purporting to trace the stolen funds to North Korean accounts, Pyongyang maintains that no credible proof has been presented to support these allegations. This denial is consistent with North Korea's historical approach to such accusations, often framing them as hostile propaganda.
