Reform UK Proposes British-Born Youth Prioritisation for Social Housing Allocation

Reform UK announced a new social housing policy designed to prioritise young, British-born individuals for property allocation. The party stated its intent to direct housing resources towards citizens born in the United Kingdom, particularly those under the age of 30.

This initiative would restrict access to social housing for individuals entering the UK for five years. Furthermore, it proposes that those applying for social housing must have resided in the country for at least a decade.

Labour criticised Reform UK's plan, describing it as both "unserious and unworkable." A Labour spokesperson accused Reform of resorting to "gimmicks and division" rather than presenting substantive solutions to the housing crisis. The party emphasised its own commitment to building 1.5 million new homes and reforming planning regulations to increase housing availability across the nation.
