Russian Aerial Bombs Kill 24 Civilians at Southern Ukraine Aid Centre
A Russian aerial bombardment on the village of Ocheretyne in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region has reportedly killed 24 civilians at a humanitarian aid distribution centre. Ukrainian officials stated that Russian forces used at least nine 3,000kg aerial bombs in the attack.
The strikes also left 27 people unaccounted for following the extensive damage inflicted upon the settlement. Rescue operations are continuing amidst the rubble, with local authorities warning that the casualty figures could rise.
This incident follows repeated denunciations by international bodies, including the UN, regarding strikes on civilian infrastructure and humanitarian operations. Western governments continue to supply arms to Kyiv, a policy critics argue prolongs the conflict while neglecting diplomatic avenues for de-escalation, ultimately leading to more civilian suffering.
